Hope this helps ...Good Luck !

Lacquer's hard, shiny finish needs to be treated carefully to avoid scratches. The age -- and quality -- of your piece will determine the best way for you to clean it. The finishes on older furniture are delicate and could be marred or even stripped by the solvents in household cleaners. Modern lacquered pieces have a tougher finish. If you have an older piece, test any cleaner you use on a hidden area first. Dust weekly with a soft cloth slightly dampened with water, then quickly blot the area with another soft, dry white cloth. Never use paper towels or pretreated furniture polishing cloths on lacquer.

I would like to know. I have a black lacquered Oriental screen that now has a haze from polish. I also have a black lacquered piano that I want to shine. Does anyone recommend a good polish?
