My history teacher teaches in an awesome way! We have wars with the other history classes like, trashing the teacher's desk without getting caught and "attacking" with paper balls. We also watch videos and act a lot. I love the skits we do as reanactments. We also have this US history site where there is a question posted each day. We have to write out the answer on a slip of paper, and the next morning, we run to the teacher's classroom. The first person to get there with the correct answer gets one extra credit point. It's education in a fun way.

How about some "living" history? Have students work alone or in small groups (their choice) to investigate the facts about the time in history and then present a report AS a person from that time period? They have to take on a persona (real or fictional) and relay the information and answer questions as that person.

my hs history type became relaxing because of the fact the instructor performed "jeopardy" with us the tip of each and every unit. He'd divide the class into 2 communities. the two lead pupils have been drawn out of a hat. The lead pupils have been given to %. their group friends. We sat on opposite facets of the college room and he'd ask us questions in regards to the chapters, his instructions, analyzing assignments, and so on. We went so as. If the pupil who's turn it became to bypass have been given it incorrect, it became asked of the pupil on the different component of the room. If that pupil have been given it incorrect, he threw it out for anybody on the two group for 0.5 a component. The final guy or woman picked for each group became given 3 factors for any of their maximum appropriate solutions. on the tip of the class (sometimes it took 2 instructions to get by way of), the group with the main factors all have been given As on their attempt and the group that did not win had to take the attempt. That became over 20 years in the past and from that one type i began out to truly get into history. because of the fact we'd have enjoyed to get out of the attempt you understand all the scholars in there took stable notes and did the assigned readings so the video games on the tip of the unit have been quite stable. of direction you may call it some thing else like "Who desires to win a million factors" or some thing extra contemporary.

try creating simulations/role play. you can look up "cultural simulations" on web. there is one on pioneers. i did one concerning sugar plantation workers where we made a line of workers doing menial work (transporting chairs); we had bosses and workers; we discussed/debriefed. learn by doing and experiencing is powerful!

show them websites they can go to (to study, for fun)
give them little work but give them enough that they can study (for quiz, for test)
