I need input in trying to help a Nonprofit group(s) in the Syracuse, NY area obtain funds to assist in their ability to help the community. I offered my marketing resources, grant research and writing and volunteering my services for free for a whole 3-years. I do not live in the city but would like to. I would travel 15 miles each way to attend community meetings just to find out how I could be of assistance I told them my services would be free until they got past the ground stages, then we could discuss my fees which would have been low and put back into the community.. They then said we are not there yet and would not need such services until they found a building to purchase for what we are trying to do which is still not determined. They currently have a a very small budget of less than $20k and have a 503c status in real estate which would be a great help in the area. Not sure if I should walk away from them or continue to try and help in lieu of their ignorance?

You really need to search your soul on this one. If you are being a great benefit to the organization, and can over look the ignorance of others I would just stay and keep in mind you are doing this out of the kindness of your heart for personal growth. Not to impress or educate the ignorant. Perhaps they will learn something through you without you knowing. Concentrate more on the good that you are doing and less on those who are unwilling to learn. Some people enjoy ignorance and live completely content their entire lives. good luck.
