want to know if you need planning permission to remove a loadbearing wall and fit RSJ?question from Scotland.

even if you don't need a permit, be sure to get someone who knows exactly what they're doing. don't give the job to your neighbors brother because if this is not done properly, the end result would not make you happy. call your town hall re the permit. you are better to be safe than sorry.

I don't know if you need permission, but just make certain you re-inforce the structure in the attic or you will end up with problems (cracking walls). They are there for a reason.

No, but you may need to comply with Building Regulations. Ask Building Control at your local council
