When the Ramones supported Iggy Pop at the Reading festival in 1980 something, I think I was the only one who watched Iggy until the end, Everyone else had gone home.
Iggy was/is good, the Ramones are better by far.
The Yardbirds were there first though.
If anyone thinks that the sex pistols were original, check out who holds the copyrights to No Fun. I`m afraid the Pistols were just another covers band.

ohh..Iggy. When he was with the Stooges he was AWESOME!! Kinda crazy and hopped up on everything possible but AMAZING. I am pretty sure he holds that title of grandfather of punk. The Ramones must be the fathers or the Nutty Uncles of punk then....

With pop in his surname I would say not. He was no where near angry enough to be considered the grandfather of punk. The Sex pistols are and will always be the origin of punk music.

Old enough to be so why not but everyone knows the Ramones own claim to the roots of punk.

I think it was a combination, you've got the Stooges, Bowie, The Ramones....and then came the Sex Pistols.
