Going there around February/March and my dad & I want to do some fun stuff. We also want to see the culture and sights. And is there any way to get to Tokyo from Okinawa? If so, how did you get there (plain, boat, etc.) and how long does it take?

A definite must see in Okinawa is Shuri Castle. It's absolutely gorgeous. There are also many beaches to go to and there are some world class diving areas as well. Here is a site for you to check out:

The best way to get to Tokyo is by plane. A flight to Tokyo is about two hours from Naha (Okinawa's capitol city) and you can fly on Japan Air Lines or All Nippon Airways. There is also a ferry from Okinawa to southern mainland Japan, but then you would have to transfer to the train and that ride would be about 10 hours. Here's a site for more info:

Good luck and enjoy your trip to "The Land of the Rising Sun"

Since you are going to be in Tokyo anyway, best to stop by and see Mt. Fuji. Afterwards take a Bullet train down to Kyoto and see the Emperors palace and the Budhist Temple, from there it is a short bus/train ride to Osaka, where you can see the legendary Osaka Castle. Fly out of Osaka, down to Naha and hopefully you will have good hotel reservations or have access to the Air Force Base, Kadena, and stay at their transient quarters. While there you will want to visit Tiger Beach, Hedo Point, and head down to Gate 2 Street, where they have vendors and more importantly Charlie's Tacos! That was a few years ago so the Charlie's maybe closed, but they were the best tacos I ever had. Okinawa is hot and muggy, so bring the appropriate attire. Additionally, keep some toilet tissue in your handbag. A lot of places don't have toilets or paper. You have to squat over a hole in the ground, sorry. But i love Japan, so make sure you enjoy it!
