Your question is far too general to answer specifically since it doesn't define location.
I would also note that "someone" can't "start a revolution". It always takes at least a group of influential (and powerful) people. Note, I don't consider a coup to be a revolution.
I would say that in almost all cases where a revolution has begun someone from outside the initiating group jumped on board, so in general I suggest the strict answer to your very general question is yes. This of course ignores the effectiveness of this "back up".

In the usa, maybe not(cos you're all zombies of democracy). It would probably work out in europe especially eastern europe where people have begun to realize that democracy isn't as hot as they originally thought.Check this out,In Russia, the second largest and strongest party is the communist party(it might win the next election).
if you're planning to start a revolution,go on and try it.If its for communism and you are american, get in touch with the american communist party(yes,it exists).

A revolution in America will only occur when the government outlaws booze & ball games.

It depends what they were fighting for.
Though, honestly I expect a revolution sometime in the future and are preparing for it. Which ever side wins, I will survive.

Absolutely not. The average American is happy enough with their life that they wouldn't want to lose it needlessly.
Middle Easterners, their life stinks so bad they'll throw it away for no reason what so ever.
