... have to start out with the singer/rapper saying "yea, yea, uh uh" (or something along those lines) during the intro? Does it make them feel cool to do the same damn thing as every other rapper/hip-hop singer? Why can't someone in these genres of music think of something original?

If you all hear is the crap that gets played on the mainstream forms of media thats all you hear. If you listen to real hip hop all you'll hear is the sound of the spirit. Real hip hop is poetry. 50 cent, Yung Joc, Lil, Wayne, Chingy, Nelly all are not REAL hip hop.

It gets the rappers into the rap...They start collecting their flows and then they start to rap...Its basically, them thinking out loud before they spit...I dont think many of these genres are original, it's strange how people seem to like to single out rap or hip hop. I think a lot of rockers sound the same, I think country music sounds the same...Why, because I dont care to learn too much about it. No, it doesnt make them feel cool, they're rich, I'm sure they dont need anyone to say, You're so cool for saying yea, yea, uh, uh. Also, everyone doesnt do it. Try researching first. Dont just go off of what you hear on the radio, because most of todays stuff isnt real rap anyway.

Why do every rock bands always have those long haired group members talking about how their mother slept with the devil and s hit, screaming at the microphone for no fuc kin g reason, jumping on the crowd at the concerts like people pay tickets so some junkie-azz retard can use'em for trampoline jumping?
Couldn't they fu cking come up with something more original?

Why do all Goth performers wear those fake blue-eyed lens, and black clothes, have dental surgery to have fangs put on, sleep in coffins and whatever other fuc kin g "tales from the crypt" idea they can come up with.
Why couldn't they be more original?

Why do reggae performers always have those natty hair braids, be caught smoking some giant-size ganja cigar, while wearing some yellow red and green "return to zion" african suit like half of jamaica was jewish and Israel was someplace in Africa (And this going for Black or White reggae performers)?
Why couldn't they be more original...

You wanna know why?
It's called genre definition, visual definition that is.

In this modern age, music is not solely based on what you hear but also about what you see. We live in a tv world unfortunately, and everything that makes it to tv is not always the best.

And if it weren't for tv, you'd easily found out how higly creative rap really is .
So here's and idea, shut the tv, look for a good underdrground rap radio channel, and you'll see why Rap is the highest selling music genre today.

Get back to what music really is: listening. and forget about the whole visual "atmosphere". You'll enjoy music (any type of music) anew.

I always thought it was to get themselves into the "rap mode." A lot of times, they are making it up on the spot, and that gets them into the right rhythm (and gives them some time to think of lyrics and where they're going with them). It's also kinda like when any musical instrument player taps their foot or nods their head to the beat to know when to start playing. A rapper's musical instrument is his mouth and he needs to be on pointe with it from the very beginning.

It's a black thang!

Really it is more of an expression of getting ready to perform. Something like a comfort zone for the rapper. No different than all of the oooooooo's & awwww's in other songs.

It's part of the attitude of hip-hop. I mean, the same thing applies to rock - every vocalost must let out an earpiercing YYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH at least once in the song

Because that type of music pretty much all sounds the same; it's not music. So it's hard for them to differentiate from that, or otherwise it wouldn't sound like rap crap anymore if they didn't say the same things. If they actually did something different, the music would be rock or pop.

I think that they think it's cool but it just shows that they have no talent. The only talent rappers have is the ability to talk fast; most of them have no musical ability and it is so frustrating to see them making so much money while people with REAL talent are overlooked.
