S. Arrhenius said that CO2 in the air will do it (Greenhouse Theory). J Lovelock says that damage to natural resources is doing it (Gaia Theory). J Rifkin blames the enormous amount of energy that people are releasing into the environment (Entropy Theory). And lots of people are starting to think that if the environment has more energy sloshing about in it, then energetic things like hurricanes and sea waves will be able to do more damage.
They could all be right. Physics says that all warming is caused by heat coming from somewhere, and all heat will eventually warm something. So don't waste heat.
(put a sweater on, not the heating)
Electricity is generated using heat, so use less electrical equipment and don't use it wastefully.
Car and truck engines give off a lot of heat, so look for food that was grown locally, instead of being transported a long way.
Join Greenpeace or Friends of the Earth, and you'll find lots of suggestions and other people who want to solve the same problem.

Global warming is a combination of green house gasses and the natural cycle of the Earth... it is the rise in average global temperature caused by these forces which is also leading to a melting of the polar ice.... in all honesty i don't think I'm going to type anymore on this because if i went into detail it'd take all of my lunch break just to get started.. too much info out there on this one.. but here is a link to the global warming area of Science Daily
