I know there is a mantra within state parks of, "Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints." What is the proper etiquette for disposing of fecal matter, and also used toilet paper. Is there an environmentally friendly toilet paper that you can bury, or must you carry it out with you?

All TP will decompose over time if buried. TP manufacturers have to comply with this requirement to sell it in the US.

Bury the TP along with the fecal matter. I believe that is the accepted method in any natural environment including the National Park System where there are no porta potties, outhouses, etc.

I don't know the answer, but the 3 you've already had seem like good ideas. I just wanted to say .....what an admirable question. I've given you a thumbs up.

I hope you have a good time when you go.

Keep the used TP in a plastic bag when you're done. Then when you leave the park find a trash receptacle to put it in.

You should be carrying with you biodegradable paper (found at any sporting goods or camping store), and it should be buried with the waste.
