I like listening to rap and they keep saying this. Athough most of the time I find the police to be quite helpful. So why is this hatred?

Logic would say it's because they are promoting criminal activity.

Most rappers say they hate the police, because they were most likely treated unfairly by them in their lives. So when they felt they have a voice to talk about it, they used music as their opportunity.

I myself am a law abiding citizens who happens to be a black woman. I can say on average I do dislike the police. I have been stopped on many occasions for no reason on my way home from work. I have a newer model car and most police officers label me as a drug dealer or doing something illegal to get it, so they stop me not caring that I worked hard to obtain the things that I have. Also I have lived in a predominately white area and predominately black area. Living in the white area I was stopped more often and if a call was made for whatever reason they came quickly assuming me to be a white woman. When I lived in a black area I could call the police and have. And have been in serious danger and it took them nearly an hour or more to come or never came at all and the police station was only 6-7 blocks away. If the police have been helpful to you that's great, but most people I know they have not been helpful or just in their actions towards them.

It depends on what kind of rap you listen to. If you're a fan of 50cent and all the so-called "gangstas" (studio gangstas like I call them), their hatred of the police is just part of their public persona since the cops keep them from acting as criminals (that is distributing s**t and carrying out other illegal activities). Now if you're into the smart MC (no hoes or bling as main subject matter), the police represents the established order, and the rapper expresses his hatred of a system that has, in some way or another, been frustrating to them.

One word: DISRESPECT. Rappers have no respect for the law, no respect for authority, no respect for women; heck, they don't have any respect for anything except being a gangsta thug. Well, you want to live like a gangsta thug, then you can DIE like one...

IT sells CD's...the rappers may or may not believe in this crap, but it sells records. And this is a very sad comment, isn't it?

i guess its because the po-po[police] assume that they are always up to doing sumthin bad. like if they are taking their white neice somewhere fun[not tryna to commit a crime in anyway] they assume that they are tryna kidnap her or sumthin. but if it was a white man taking out a black neice.....they would not pull him over.

they chat ****. do not take any notice to what they say, they just want to look "cool" and show you that they are "outlaws"... please. you on the other hand keep enjoying your music, but do not take any notice to what they say anyway.
