You should have pushed the FIRE button. That would have prevented anyone from entering the elevator until the smell went away.

Nothing. If there were people around you in the elevator and as they walked out, that person must have released it. It lingered in the air till the next person came and thought it was you. I guess it's normal to fart LOL
