Adding Woodson and having Al Harris, plus A.J. Hawk and Pickett you would think they would be very stout. My guess is the new defensive coordinator is the problem and Bates (last years DC) leaving with the comparison in results is the proof..
look at lots of points in the MNF game against the Eagles and take the over on the point total.

The reasons are that they are not playing as a unit and another is they haven't had enough time to play with each other.

The answer is the lack of a defensive line. Their front four is getting man-handled week in and week out by offensive lines. Philadelphia has one of the best o-lines in the game, and without any pressure on McNabb, the ONLY way the Packers will win the MNF game is if Green Bay holds onto the ball and controls the clock, which is not really something they're known for.
Fortunately, Philly's pass defense has proven to be questionable at best, and Favre should be able to slice em up. I'm expecting a very exciting, high scoring football game, much like Indianapolis vs Green Bay two seasons ago.
GB's defensive backs are really good, actually, but when a QB has time to pick his open recievers, you can't stop them. They also need to improve the tackling of the entire secondary.
Another thing is how many turnovers Green Bay has. They're giving the ball to the other team and giving them chances to make something happen.

No question, it was Bates coaching. One would think with an upgraded defence from last year this could be one of the leagues best. This clearly shows how good of a coach Bates was. To bad he isn't the head coach now.
