The power of persuasion is always knowing what people or a particular person will respond to in a way that you want them to and knowing how to use it. For example, if I'm out with the guy I'm dating and he tells me he wants just to hang out (no sex) and that's not what is on my mind, I know exactly what to say and do to make him wanna jump on me by the end of the night. Also, I can figure out how to make people I don't know at least listen to me and 60% of them will end up doing what I want. That is how it gives you power. The power of persuasion is really a way saying I know how to manipulate people.

It is the ability to convince someone, who might not think so otherwise, that your point of view is right and they decide to go along with your view.
It usually only works if one or both of two things exist: 1. Your view is correct and right; and/or 2. The person is gullible and will believe anything.
Most people will only believe what they want to believe any way. The power is in the fact that they decide to follow your view whether it is an immediate decision or one made later after they think about it. Either way, it was your power of persuasion that turned them around.
An example is that Adolph Hitler persuaded millions of Germans that his cause was right and they supported him starting World War II. His view wasn't right, but he made them feel that his way was the answer to Germany's problems and they didn't oppose him. Later, through the use of propaganda, he convinced them they were winning the war when they were really losing it and they didn't realize it until it was too late when the Allies marching into Germany.
