Most decent people sleep flat. Why do they have vampires do that?

In the movies they sleep on their backs because it's easier for the special effects guys to get those good closeups when they get staked....
otherwise, last time I checked those little bats that suck blood- you know...vampire bats? hang from their toes.

The myth of vampires and how they sleep are all told differently. In the movie Lost Boys they was sleeping while hanging from their feet like bats.In one of John Carpenter's movies the vampire was buried in dirt without a coffin.So there are many tales.

Since I am a vampire, I know that I sleep on my back. I tried to sleep on my side, but my hand kept falling asleep. I'm pretty sure all my friends sleep on their backs as well, because our spinal columns are flatter than other humanoid forms.

Having laid in a coffin before, I can tell you that I had plenty and I do mean plenty of room to flip over. So yes a vampire can flip to his or her side or face down, either way they so chose, personally I like laying on my left side.

vampires are dead come to life and at funerals the deceased are laying on their back so maybe vampires are so used to that sleeping position that they don't really sleep any other way.

On their backs as the dirt from their home is in the greatest contact with the body and they are able to rest peaceably. Also, if disturbed, the vampyre is in a better position to defend against the attacker.

they sleep on back because
1.when they died thats the way they were placed in the coffin.
2.in stories how could people put a stake in there heart? and three its more comfortable
