Of course they do. They still have quality pitchers, led by Tom Glavine, and a very explosive offensive lineup. I would still be very surprised if the Mets don't at least win their opening series.

The Mets have a dangerous offense and some good pitching with Glavine and Hernandez. They can definitely compete. If they have to play the Astros, that offense had better be on fire. The 'stros are on a tear right now and will be tough to beat. A Mets/Astros series will make for some great baseball, whether you're a fan of either team or not. As for Pedro, his absence will not even be noticed; he hasn't been the Pedro of old in quite awhile. If he were to pitch against Houston, they would eat him alive. He'd be lucky to make it past the 3rd inning.

Sure, the Mets beat the Astros 4 our ot 6 games this year and Pedro didnt pitch any of them.....

Dont question the Mets beating the Astros when the Crapstros arent even in the playoffs yet. We basically clinched 3 months ago buddy.

Hey folks, the Mets, inspite of their recent post clinching swoon, have still been far and away the best team in the NL in 2006. The Astros have been up and down all year (And they still have to overtake the Cardinals). Of course you miss a pitcher of Pedro's caliber (although he hasn't been that pitcher since early in the year) but the Mets still have enough to turn back any challenger in the NL.

I doubt the Mets will make it out of the first round...but if they do, it's won't matter if they have Pedro. They have plenty of other talented players in their team. But the biggest "IF" is if the Astros make the playoffs at all. I think the Cardinals will win the central, and the Astros will fall just short. But that's a big "IF"

St. Louis is going to make the World Series, and I'm not even a Cards fan. The stros won't make the playoffs, so this question is a moot point.

If the A's play Minnesota instead of Detroit, they'll make the Series where the Cards will win in 6.

Otherwise, its Yankees vs Cardinals.

Sure they do. The Mets havn't had the Pedro of old this year. He has just been a good pitcher instead of great. I don't think that losing Pedro is really going to hurt them too much.

Simple answer - NO!

The Astros' three headed pitching monster (Oswalt/Rocket Roger/Pettitte) will destroy the Mets.

If we can dream it, it will happen. I love the Mets, and I can dream it; can you?
