Iraq wasn't a military war, it is a political war. Ahmed Chalibi told Rumsfield that US troops would be "welcomed with flowers". Rummy believed him (and the INC) and made no plans other than catching Saddam.

Bush had Karen Hughs draw up the Iraq battle plan. It is all on the Whitehouse tapes. Bush told her to plan the attack.

Crazy as it may sound Bush took the advise of a Texas TV News Anchor over the advise of the Joint Chief's of Staff.

I'm all for war but my God is that ever dumb.

Do not forget the worst of all, Rummy had his hand in these poor decisions which puts the responsibility right on George Bush for appointing an incompetent slug to this post.

The generals are being over-ridden. After they retire they speak up and tell it like it is. Republicans are getting soldiers killed over political ideology.
