California is where I live and the best by far. I have lived in Chicago IL, Orlando FL, and Virginia Beach VA, as well as a small town in Indiana.
California has the most diversity, in terms of environment, things to do, and people and culture. From Sacramento, in less than one day of driving I can go to the mountains, the forest, waterfalls, Lake Tahoe, Reno, the coast, Monterey, Carmel Valley. Hearst Castle, the Winchester Mystery House, Napa Valley, the delta, San Francisco, Alcatraz, LA, San Diego, the giant redwoods of Humboldt County, the giant sequoias in Calaveras County, the caverns, hot springs, the ghost towns of the gold rush days, the missions, the hostels, Yosemite Valley, Death Valley, King's Canyon, the list goes on and on and on. There is so much to see and do here.
I have lived here for 18 years and make road trips almost every other weekend and I'm still constantly finding new things to see and new places to go. Whether I want to camp in the wild and rough it or stay in style in the city, it's within a couple of hours drive. Whether I have $10 or $100 or more, I can find something fun and interesting. Whether I want to stay at a hostel for $20 a night and meet people from all over the world, or stay at a five star hotel for $150 a night and be catered to, or go live in a tree for a week to save it from loggers, it's available.
But the thing I like best about California is the people. People here are awake and aware of what is happening. They tend to be ecologically minded, health oriented, eat organic, and educate themselves on the issues. Even if I disagree with people politically, we are usually able to have an educated discussion about the issues and they can articulate the reasons why they believe what they believe and tend to be willing to at least listen to opposing views.

I live in Vermont. I prefer to live in vermont why because we don't have traffic jams that last for hours, Our crime rate is unbelievably low. People here are kind road rage is rare. We don't have an insane amount of lanes on our highways. The state is very undeveloped so we have trees. Our politics is civil so we're not infected by that social conservative venom politics. taxes are high, jobs not as many as we would like but we get by anyway. My state is beautiful all times of the year especially in the early fall when the leaves change. Life here isn't the insane rush, rush, rush of other states. We're a small state so it doesn't take forever to get some where. I think vermont is entirely unique in the way it treats it's fellow citizens and even welcomes strangers not break out the artillery and preform a back ground check mentality I see becoming all to common in other states . that's just a sample of the reasons I love vermont if you want more e-mail me.

North Carolina.
I have traveled to over a dozen states & have concluded that
North Carolina is the best state. We have beautiful seashores &
majestic mountains with flat areas in between. Our weather varies - thus our joke of "If you do not like the weather today, just wait till tommorrow". We can have 5" of snow one day & 75
degree weather the next.
We have a variety of politics from Jesse Helms to John Edwards.
We are a Red state usually but not always. We have Duke basketball, Carolina basketball, NC State football, we have a
total 16 state universities & 58 community colleges.
I love North Carolina & it's diversity. We are one of the fastest growing states, so our homes are rising in price quickly too.
We are friendly & after our northern neighbors get used to it, they are friendly too. Makes for crazy driving though - southerners & northerners do not drive alike. Where are they going in such a hurry? Leave earlier, that is what good southerners do.
Ya'll come to see us - okay.
p.s. I am from South with IQ of 169. - but we did not want the bigot anyway.

Alabama! Yuk!!
I don't know the best but I can tell you the worst!
California, Texas and Florida! Probably New Jersey as well!
The South is full of red necks who's IQ's are between 70 and 80!
I was in Alabama during the race riots and George Wallace as a member of the 2nd Infantry Division on Sand Hill at Ft Benning! I have seen your hospitality!
Colorado has no water!
Hew Hampshire would be the best if it weren't for the long winters! Lots of large lakes, including Squam which was known as " Golden Pond"! We have the White Mountains and Mt Washington, and we are on the coast!
Bush's wife killed a person in an accident, and Bush's ex girlfriend that he knocked up had an abortion!

America actually consists of 51 states and I've lived in all of them. I presently reside in the last state admitted to the union, and to me it is the best. The great state of Confusion. In this state there are not only no questions, there are no answers, and nobody knows anybody or anything. It's great!!!There is only one problem here and that is nobody knows how to get out of this state.

Kansas is the best state of the fifty nifty United States, from the 13 original Colonies, fifty nifty stars on the flag that bellow so beautifully in the breeze. Each individual state, contributes a quality that is great, each individual state, deserves a bow, we salute them now!

Cant be answered! each person has different desires and prefers a differnet location from others. If you prefer the coastal beach location over the mountains, then thats different from what others feel like. Each state has good aspects about it. You can't compare it with others since they are each unique.
So take your pick and find out which is best for you.
