Meat has the most protein - I'm not sure which one. But beans actually have the best protein with no fat. Although the protein in beans is missing two amino acids, if you eat rice or cornbread with them - or even in the same day -, it supplies those two amino acids making it a complete protein. Beans also have the advantage of being a whole food, meaning they have phytonutrients, fiber, and other good stuff that meat doesn't have, so instead of raising your cholesterol, they actually lower it. They inhibit cancer and other diseases like diverticulosis and other digestive disorders as well.
There is the embarrassing gas problem, but if you soak them for at least a day before you cook them, it helps cut down on that. Also if you use canned beans, be sure to rinse them in cold water to get rid of the excess sodium. And if you buy refried beans, make sure they don't have lard in them or you're just adding back all the fat and cholesterol. Buy the vegetarian kind.

Meat I think.
Protein is anything that has all the amino acids, mostly that means animal products.
People make all but 7 of them. So we have to eat those.
