When I did mine last year, I used lots of stuff from the Times Educational site ( www.tes.co.uk ), go into the Resource Bank section and type in mini beast ( 2 words ) into the search facility. There are some very nice 'washing line' numbers featuring at least 20 types of insect. You will have to register a few details first before they let you access all the details. There are also some very good photos of the life cycle of a butterfly if you type 'butterfly' into the search facility.

How about getting a clear fish tank and displaying live ones - for a short period, then the children can draw them and make models which they can substitute for the freed live ones.

How about a key? Does it have legs?/yes/no/etc. and get the kids to draw the minibeasts for answers.
Mobiles with minibeasts hanging down. Better still the phases of metamorphosis of a butterfly.
Snail trail - a garden scene with snails partially hidden - write questionsabout snails beside.
Massive spider web with other minibeasts caught in it.
Hope this helps x
