What were you doing in the sixties?

And don't just say something like "smoking weed." That's boring. Tell me something real.

I was going to high school and my first two years in college in 68 and 69. I was more of a quiet conformist and wasn't a hippie, though I did have a few drinks from time to time.

I played music in the high school band and also in a small group.

Even though I wasn't very popular, I nearly always managed to come up with dates.

I am one of the early baby boomers. I'm 59 years of age. I NEVER smoked "weed" or did any kind of drugs. I know some people make the comment: Everybody did drugs in the 60's. What a big fat lie.
Now as to what I was doing during the sixties was going to high school, living through the rough times of the JFK murder, the civil rights struggle, the murders of MLK and Bobby Kennedy, the civil unrest and protests against the Vietnam War. How I wish now that I HAD the courage to join in that protest but I didn't believe in "standing out." That was wrong.
In 1969, I met the man who would eventually become my husband and we're still together and pretty happy.

I was going to high school. We were listening to rock groups on the radio such as the Beatles, the Who, Rolling Stones, Moody Blues, and the Doors. We came home from school and listened to the evening news. The top story was the war in Vietnam. I remember what I was doing when John and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King were shoot. I remember when man first walked on the moon. Not everyone in the sixties was smoking dope. A lot of us were studying and held down good jobs after school. My best memory of the sixties is of my friends. I was lucky to have a lot of great friends back then. Fortunately, I still keep in touch with a lot of them. I also watched America mature through the civil rights movement.
