well..do u know socrates the brazilian?? he was a doctor and he also holds a doctorate degree in philosophy..

and (i'm sure the italians are gonna luv this) del piero holds a degree in accountancy..

i'm sure there are others who managed to get their diplomas/degrees but i can only think of the two right now..

and i think most of them are probably just good at football..i mean they studied and learned stuff but it's not their priority - football is..and it doesn't matter bcuz they can survive with it..

Well school in Italy at any level is not easy. So even if the Italian players did not attend post secondary school they are still quite learned. I'm not saying this because I support Italia. I've been there I saw what my cousins had to go through in middle school. It's very hard. So as for the Italian players I think they have enough education to be able to talk intelligently about other topics besides soccer. I don't know about players from other countries though.

They get education just like anyone else, the difference is that they may not go to University because they take a different route in life. Besides in Italy just going to grade school you learn much more than North America, the education is very hard in Italy.I don't know about other European countries I'm just comparing with North America.

Well to your surprise, I know one (of many I think/hope),who really has. He's Michael Ballack who had A-Levels in Chemnitz Sports High School and, who also has advance courses in German and History.
I also think international pro's must study if not, how would they comunicate in other languages?
Ballack speaks german and now, recently transferred to Chelsea FC, must know english if he's going to be and live there for some years.
I also know his english is improving a lot ;)

Some players cannot read or write, more and more footballers will see a need to have a good set of qualifications and careers as football becomes a theatre.

If I'm not mistaken, most of them graduated from football academy..they do have knowledge and some of them are well-educated..and the most important knowledge they have is to play football with a passion for it and not to dive or cheat..play from heart..that's enough for them as professional football players..

BTW,do you know Arjen Robben is a genius? I respect him for that..
