ok if you're refering to why is it known as the NSPCC- its because it was already set up and well known before its got its royal charter in 1895- it didn't change its name as it was already established and didn't want to be confused with the RSPCA.. so it does have the right to use RSPCC as it is sometimes known but chooses not to..the reason its known as the national society... is to reflect the fact it has branches in scotland. its Irish branches are i think known as children 1st. Does that make sense..

There is - the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. It's known as the NSPCC. It didn't change it's name but was granted a Royal charter in 1895.

Im sure there is a 'Royal' protection society for children. There is definately a Royal institute for psychiatry, the blind and other causes. It has something to do with the founding of the organisations i think.

Is this a British thing? In the USA I am unfamiliar with the concept. I know of several endangered species, and here they are either endangered or threatened or at risk, depending on how near they are to extinction.
I do think more emphasis is placed on protection of endangered animals than children, and I think children should have a higher priority.

the prefix royal can only be used if a member of royalty is patron. From which one can only assume they didn't want to be associated with cruelty to children
