Terrorists want to destroy Western-style constitutional government. The Republican party is doing the terrorists' job for them with the cowardly abandonment of our national principles in the face of terrorism.
You can't abandon rights of privacy, human rights, habeas corpus and fair trials in order to protect rights of privacy, human rights, habeas corpus and fair trials! It is totally nonsensical, cowardly and suicidal for Republicans to be doing this!
The conservatives seem to be suffering from a mass psychosis, the likes of which haven't been witnessed since Nazi Germany.
Republicans should have the COURAGE to stand-up for American principles in the face of terror, but they don't!

For those bothered by the Germany line: I've tried to be very careful how I word that point. The point is the ->mass psychosis<-. Surprisingly, Hitler came to power by popular means. How could this happen? Germans were willing to abandon principles and give up so much because their leader exploited their insecurities. President Bush is doing the same thing! Rather than firing us up with courage to stand on our principles of liberty and justice for all- to spite the terrorists who believe in no such thing, and hold the higher moral ground for generations to come, he's deceptively mobilized conservatives into a perhaps mortal wounding of our Constitutional soul. Thus allowing our principles to bleed away from our national consciousness without even the slightest regret.
The unfolding tragedy of our democracy is heartbreaking to witness. Conservatives who no longer defend American principles of justice an liberty no longer deserve to be called conservatives.

First of all, being a Conservative is not being a Nazi, so stop the idiotic comparisons. The NSA is intercepting calls from suspected terrorists outside the country, or going out to suspected terrorists outside the country. Human rights for enemy combatants? We're not violating their human rights. They were trying to kill our troops while dressed as civilians in the battlefield. The liberal idiots keep giving up National Security secrets which have helped prevent further attacks. If it hadn't been for the President having the balls to do what he's been doing, we would have been hit again. How many times have your rights been violated? Human rights? Privacy rights? Right to a fair trial? I'll guarantee it's been never. We are fighting a war, genius, and all I've seen the liberals do is undermine the war effort. Don't talk about courage when it's obvious that the liberals just want to drop to their knees and "appease" the terrorists and their allies at the UN.

Well you can suspend those right during time of war and the US was, ex. Civil War, WWI, and WWII.
Abe Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus for almost the entire length of the US Civil War. It resumed after the Northern victory.
for example during WWI Pres. Wilson, a Dem had EVERY telegram that came into the US or went out of the US intercepted and read. The Supreme court reviewed this and gave a thumbs up. In WWII phone calls were added to the intercepts.
Also 6 German spies slipped into NY from a U-boat off Long Island duriing WWII. One of the spies was caught. He revealed location of the others during interrogation. They were tried and sentenced to death within 6 months. One of the spies was a US citizen, having been born in US but raised in Germany. That spie appealed to US Federal courts. Supreme Court ruled none of the spies had a right to be heard in court as they had been engaged in war-combat activity and Commander-In-Chief FDR could turn them over to military. All six were executed by military, not civilian court proceedings.
Let's see another example is future Supreme Court justice Warren was a state official of California at start of WWII (governor?). He approved the internment of Japanese-Americans during the war. Supreme Court allowed for duration of war. BTW, it is rarely mentioned that 1st generation German and Italian-Americans and immigrants from those 2 nations were also interned in TX and CO during the war.
As the Supreme Court said, the Constitution is not a suicide pact. Some rights can be suspended during the war and after wards those rights become even greater. Those are facts.

particularly biased "question" i need to assert. 9000 human beings die in the united states from drowning each and every twelve months. that's like 3 9/11s each and every twelve months. i do not see human beings up in fingers about that. "battling terrorists" will not in any respect win. the middle east has been battling among itself for hundreds of years. We made a huge mistake in getting in touch. that's unwinnable. we are of their united states. we could continually get out and take care of our own borders and be particular yet another terrorist attack would not ensue again and then we will be high quality. yet spending over 100 billion funds a twelve months on wars in the middle east isn't effective use of authorities funds. the U. S. is broke adequate via the indisputable fact that's and can't manage to pay for this fruitless battling of people who do not even care about us as long as we stay out of their organisation. solar Tzu suggested in the paintings of conflict "There has never been a united states which has profited from a continual conflict." that's so authentic. we've spend over one thousand billion funds battling this "conflict on terror" and don't have a lot to teach for it except a huge hollow in our pocket.

The Terrorists are just that. Terrorists! There is no dealing with them because they have no Honor. Any one who does not believe EXACTLY as they do are Infidels, and in their words, Must be Killed!
They are not fighting under the Flag of any Country, and there fore are not included in the Geneva Convention Rules of War. The Terrorists do not wear the Uniform of Any Country, and therefore are to be treated like the Murders of Women and Children that they are!
It appears that you are trying to Protect the Terrorist, by equating them to Us!
It also appears that you might be other than an American Citizen!

I'm sure that you will be just as noble when you are sitting on a bus with a suicide bomber who was not caught because some idealist like yourself decided that his right to a private phone call was just too great.
The unfortunate truth is that we are now at war with a group that is not going to stop short of converting or killing us all, and they are willing to trade their lives to do so. It is not the time to limit (within reason) what tools and weapons we provide to our government in their efforts to protect us.
But I'm sure that its eay for you to endorse the protection of these rights sitting at your computer. I'm also sure that if these rights were upheld, after another attack, you would be in front of all the other whiners complaining that the government did not do enough to protect you.

And here's a headline from today..."House Approves Warrantless Wiretap Law"...so yesterday they reversed habeas corpus and today they approved spying on Americans without a warrant. I'm guessing next will be the "Consolidation of Powers Act" abolishing congress and representative government. Yes it's official the American experiment in government is OVER...The United States of America and all that it stood for is GONE. Welcome to the United States of Nazi Germany. It's only a matter of time before the NeoCons use these new laws to start rounding up and imprisoning their political opponents.
We will be nuked in the near future and nobody will even care...like the U.S. never existed.

I think you have it backwards. The liberals are the ones fueling the flame by cow towing to the terrorists. Letting them in the country, making sure that they are not profiled. Spreading hate and mocking the president. These are the things that turn them on.
