Probably not. They need to win back 6 seats and there are only 6 races that are close enough for them to win. So- basically, they'd need to win all of the close races- which is unlikely.
However- the majority will be small enough (hopefully) after the next election to hopefully provide a bit more compromise needed to get bills passed, rather than the "screw you" attitude of the republicans that has persisted for the last 6 years.

I don't think so. I think there is a good chance the Democrats will take the house and that's enough to provide the checks and balances that have been missing in Washington for the past 6 years. To be honest I don't want the democrats to take the senate as well. If the senate stays strongly republican then no matter what and if articles of impeachment are voted on in the house, the senate will never convict him. I don't want the congress to waste the next two years trying to impeach bush when all that will happen is the schism between the two parties will grow wider and Cheney will become president. Neither one is good for the country. But neither is having the executive and legislative branch completely controlled by one party.

It does not look like democrats are going to be in the senate anytime soon, because even though America is going through a lot of hardship while republicans are in power, most democrats would rather vote republicans because of certain moral issue, they don't want democrats in power because of their fear that democrats being in power will allow gay marriages and other immoral issues. So even if republicans totally destroy this country and totally wipe out the middle class, some people would rather see that happen, before they actually see Mr. And Mr. Smith.

I hope so but I doubt it. I even doubt they'll take the house. I am a democrat but I've lost all respect for my so called fellow americans. They have a nasty habit of doing the wrong thing hence the reason why we're in one war after another and why the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Rural people is soooo stupid!!!!
