You should consult your health care provider for the following:
If you have not started menstruating by the age of 16.
If your period has suddenly stopped.
If you are bleeding for more days than usual.
If you are bleeding excessively.
If you suddenly feel sick after using tampons.
If you bleed between periods (more than just a few drops).
If you have severe pain during your period.
Menarche is another name for the beginning of menstruation. In the United States, the average age a girl starts menstruating is 12. However, this does not mean that all girls start at the same age. A girl can begin menstruating anytime between the ages of 8 and 16. Menstruation will not occur until all parts of a girl's reproductive system have matured and are working together.

It is different for everyone. Studies done in the early 19th century were done on girls in orphanages and they were malnurished. The average age then was about 15 or 16. Recent studies show that girls who come from healthy households and are properly nurished may start much earlier. Mine started when I was 11, 1 month before I turned 12. I was the first in my class, and I think most girls I grew up with had started by the time they were 13.

I knew a girl who got it when she was 8. It just depends on the girl. There is no set age, most people get it around the age 12 though. That is when I got mine.

it depends. Theoritically one should have at the age of 12-13yrs but there are incidents where the subject got period at the age of 9yrs. it depends on how much you get exposure to sexual elements like movies having sex scenes or book containing sexual elements and how your body reacts to those situation when you are looking at them. if you are attracted then your ovulation starts soon. This is very common in states.

8 or 9. I heard this one girl was developing that early, and really it's not the best thing. She was under stress or something. She took pills to reverse the hormonal changes, and they took her off of it when she was about 12 -14?
