You can get on the depo provera shot. It supposedly stops your period after like three months, but then again, everyone is different so your results may vary.
I tried it once....I gained about 20 pounds and my first period after I had it was very heavy and thick...Very scary! But anyway, everyone is different, so this may not happen to you. You just have to try it and see what happens.
Here is a website with Depo info. Also, talk to your doctor.

The shot i had was given in my arm... It hurts really bad because the needle is thicker and the serum(fluid) is milky. If I got it again, I would get it in my buttcheek so it wouldn't hurt as bad.

i am assuming that you do not have children yet, i would say that the birth control pill is your best bet. you dont even have to use seasonale; your doctor can tell you how to do this with any birth control pill - lots of female gynecologists have been doing this for years before seasonale came along. the problem is you cannot put it off forever because eventually you have problems with bleeding/spotting. but you can space them out to every 8 wks or longer. i would not recommend the depo shot - too many bothersome side effects (like gaining 20 or 30 pounds, depression) and some women on the shot bleed every day for months. if you have had children, ask your doctor about the mirena iud. it is very safe and will decrease your periods immensely. you may stop having them altogether - many women do. others have very light spotting occassionaly.

There are birth control pills where you only have 4 periods a year called Seasinique (Seasonal w/ low dose of hormones on the week you have your period to make it very light). I take these pills and my doctor has me taking them continuously ( w/o taking the week break) to keep me from having any periods. However every once in a while I get break through bleeding but it is a very small amount.

there are some birth control methods you can look into that will slow down the severity, or even stop them after a while. I know in my city, you can go to the sexual health clinic monthly and get a shot, supposedly, if you continue this shot monthly, after awhile, you do eventually stop getting your period until after you stop taking the monthly shots.

No. But sometimes birth control can make them very short with very little bleeding. There is a reason why your body needs to expel the unfertilized egg. Trying to get your periods to stop is VERY unhealthy. It's just one of those things that we women have to deal with.
I would rather have a period than have that nasty lump hanging between my legs. How uncomfortable!

There are some birth control pills that stop your period or at least make them really light. Check with your OB/GYN.
