Americans would be able to move past the Katrina disaster if the people indigenous to New Orleans were more proactive in the reconstruction efforts, instead of spending the bulk of their time griping about discrimination, inequality, and maltreatment. Truthfully, neighboring states and the federal government have done more than their fare share of rebuilding the city, and supporting the displaced citizens. Things would be expedited greatly if people from New Orleans stopped playing the victim role, and assisted in the efforts to rebuild their homes, schools, hospitals and infrastructure.

It like people really can't see with their eyes.. Victims of Katrina rememberd what happen and the wounds are far from being healed.. People say **** happens or the people are playing victims.. It's only because they were taught to play victims.. In this society we are not positioned to be self sufficient in such disasters.. We were educated in schools not boot camp so please spare me the drama.. We the people of America are the engines that provides America it's strength.. If people that lost everything due to poor evacuation and a conspiracy to take their lands wants to ***** a little about it then so be it..

Katrina is a small military exercise and that is the real concern..

America has but the people it affected haven't. You don't hear much about it in the news or anything and people that can have moved on. But there's people down there trying to rebuild their lives. They have very little. At my job, we hired several people who moved to memphis after the hurricane because they lost everything. A few went back to rebuild. Several stayed here because of the cost to rebuild.

The area is still devastated, but it is coming back. Unfortunately we have a conservative government, conservatives believe that government should do nothing, or at least as little as possible, and thats what its doing. Tax breaks for billionaires are more important to the government than getting a whole region's economy functioning again.

Our town is filled with survivors. How can we get over abandoning a major American city in its time of need? Would you trust your government to help you after seeing how long the rescue was delayed?

it's so sad what happened, it really bugs me out to know that i live in a country that can send millions over seas to rebuild a country that we bombed, but we can't fix our homeland devastation. . . .something or someone needs to go in the government.
