I have dial up that is extremely slow, but I need an anti virus program. I have heard that some of these free ones are great. But, I do not want to be online for days downloading it. Can I download it in peices? a little at a time. And I need to be protected while I am online doing it can I leave the antivirus that is on my computer on there while I am downloading another one?

All of the answers were really great and so helpful that I couldn't just choose one. I will have to put it to a vote. Thank you to all for being so helpful. I greatly appreciated the advice and I was able to download what I needed. Thank you.

Avast! anti virus is great, I'm also on dial up and don;t have any problems.
But if you;re really stuck, watch out for magazines that give away dsoftware on disc. It's the easiest way, then you just download updates.

Avira Anti-Vir. I've used it for 6-7 years, and only had a single virus in that time.
