And is survival of the fittest or just fend for yourself the right philosophy to have when there is such a big split between the rich and poor in our society?

Would we be better off in a world where everyone was equal and there was no rich or poor, just equal and getting by lets say?

Just want some thoughts or debates about this as these are the things that people seem to expect government to do yet no one really is willing to make the choices or sacrifices that it takes to make these changes happen in my opinion.

Competition is a good thing; it brings out the best in people. Unfortunately, it is difficult to have competition without some inequality. Social Darwinism, or 'dog eat dog,' is not necessarily a good thing. It breeds contempt and people develop ways of holding people down, like slavery.

If we can develope a truly equal way of having competition without the 'I'm better than you' attitude, it would be a wonderful thing for our planet and mankind.

Actually, socialism has worked very well for decades in Sweden -- the problem is no one ever truly follows their model. Power-hunger and greed always derail it.

Poverty, homelessness, the mentally ill wandering the street, children unable to get a decent or any education in the richest nation on earth. This is the result of "dog eat dog society" The survival of the fittest is a social Darwinism adopted by those who rejected evolution but use the concept that they are successful not because they grind the poor or cheat and steal from others but because some how they are better than those they oppress. This "proves" that they are deserving of the rewards their thefts and abuses of brought them and not prison. Since they act in a fashion that would make a animal nauseous they cannot refer to what they do as human so they call it dog eat dog. This is a grave insult to dogs. The justification is always used that others are doing it so you have to or can do it. The use of this justification. if extended, to other activities would see societal acceptance of paedophilia, murder or arson etc. Why do we accept the poverty level in a world that adores and lists the richest? Bill Gates got his start by ripping off a friend but we worship him because he has money.
We can never be equal but we can be less far apart. Government should be there to do what communities need but can't do by themselves. Politicians should be kept on a short leash and under high scrutiny. They should have explain every action they have made to the voters and be required by law, with harsh penalties if they lie, to tell the truth and answer the asked question. They should have no input into their salaries. Lobbyists should be outlawed and any present lobbyists treated as organized crime figures.

So an equal society would reward the highly trained person the same as the dropout. The trash collector would be rewarded the same as the brain surgeon or the president. This society is NOT as you describe but one that rewards effort, work and intelligence.
Equality of outcome regardless of effort just produces equal misery because no one would have an incentive to invent or invest! Just look at Europe!

Socialism is a joke and no matter how many times it fails, someone will suggest that it simply has been done right. People stop being productive at all in that environment. Capitalism motivates people to new levels. Yes, greed exists, but its by products still produce positive results and employee people. If you are in America, you have a shot at being rich. People have come here with nothing and worked hard and creatively and prospered.

Everyone should be equal, then there would be no starving kids dying in their mother's arms, no rich business men having heart-attacks,or ripping off the "little people". There would be no jealousy in the world. Equality, without a doubt

I thoroughly understand the position you're coming from with this, and that i actually haven't any concern with any way of existence who eats any type of animal, be it pig, cow, canines or cat. yet in Western way of existence, cats and canines are typically saved as pets, so human beings sort a bond with this kind of animal. that is why they imagine that's obsurd that an asian way of existence might want to eat them, they don't realize the way of existence and don't understand that that's carefully well-known in you're society, and fairly some human beings in western way of existence are fairly closed minded to how diverse cultures opperate because they have not in any respect lived there themselves, continually being extra up a particular thanks to work out issues a particular way. regrettably, you won't be able to replace anybody, that's a similar as gay rights, you'll continually have human beings antagonistic to it, and there is not any longer some thing you may do to modify that, you in simple terms ought to stay with it and believe what you want.

It makes you a tougher person. IF life was easy we would be all acting like "rich spoiled kids" for example: Paris Hilton.
