Unfortunately.. I had to euthanize my poor kitty because he had diabetes and then a brain aneurysm... I treated his diabetes for over 3 years.. an insulin injection two times a day.. Animals with diabetes(if medicated with insulin) can live a long time)

Definitely yes, with our more domesticated pets anyway. Very common in cats and quite common in dogs. And often for the same reasons as humans get type 2 diabetes, inappropriate diet and insufficient exercise. Of course, it can be hereditary too.

Yes, Degu's are diabetic,even something like veg that is naturally high in sugar is bad for them,they are a guinea pig/mouse type rodent.

Yes both dogs and cats can suffer from diabetes. It is easily treatable with insulin injections, and diet restrictions.

Absolutely.
My wife is a veterinarian, and over the years we've "inherited" a couple of diabetic cats whose owners wanted to put them down because they couldn't be bothered. Daily insulin shots kept them alive and well for years.
