It's a politically ploy, just like most fortunate things that happen under Bush's watch. What’s sad is that most Americans should be outraged that the gas prices are plummeting now, close to election time. Why? Well, if they applied a little common sense they would realize that if the oil prices can in fact be manipulated for political leverage, than oil prices can be changed by the influence of politicians. Hence, many conservatives were lying when they said Bush and his cohorts had no influence over gas prices. So Americans have been paying billions of dollars unnecessarily when these exorbitant prices could have been avoided a long time back.

No, it's no coincidence at all. And each and every reason they use for either jacking up the price of oil, and lowering, always sounds like some much BS. Enjoy the reprieve we are getting these days as once the election in November is over, the price of gas will soar way beyond what it already has. And another point, in the region I live in, the price of heating oil has not dropped a cent. So none of it makes sense except the fact that those in charge are only concerned with increasing their wealth in an unlimited manner, which includes our dear President, who is also, as you know, an oil man. We're all just being manipulated by those in power.

Obviously the Republicans have kidnapped the wives and families of all the leaders of OPEC nations and are holding them at Gitmo.

They are forcing the oil producing nations to drop the price of crude through the basement and it is apparently working. These countries are taking losses worth billions of dollars a day just to help Bush get reelected.

I guess the Republicans will think you'll give them credit for dropping the price of gas but won't blame them for raising it.

And to think all along I figured it was just supply and demand! Thanks for opening my eyes.

It is funny how that works, isn't it? Although I'm not sure how I would make a connection to lower gas prices and the administration. I think we can only make that connection once we also make the connection of the Bush family and Standard Oil to the CIA and the Middle East. ;-)

There are two reasons for high gas prices, one, outrageous excise taxes on gas.

Two, oil is a non-renewable energy source, and as such until we get a new fuel the price of it will keep getting higher because the supply will keep getting lower as the demand gets higher.

in the previous the 04 election, Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia met with Bush and agreed to flood the marketplace with oil to help with Bush's re-election. Bandar freely admitted this in an interview with Bob Woodward. to this point as Bush monkeying(no pun meant) with gasoline expenses via way of his Saudi connections this time is each and every physique's wager.

It is a conspiracy. It's the conspiracy of supply and demand. The price of world wide crude is dropping and the use of gas in the US is dropping. It is seasonal, this happens every year, without exception. When the temperature drops and home heating oil use increases gas prices will increase, just like it does every year.

It's not dropping "right before November elections," it's dropping because the summer traveling season is over.

You conspiracy -theory idiots are really stretching these days. Do you have nothing better to do?

No major hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico and reduction of the risk of war with Iran, is what's been making the price of oil go down.

the gas price drops at the end of every summer driving vacation season, less people go to the beach, drive to see a friend etc during the poorer weather, this has been the pattern since the 70's----obviously you haven't been around long enough to see it and would rather take some internet conspiracy blogger's word over reailty.
