MHOLHOL, you should check out an older 90's band called ENIGMA that covers
that eternal recurence you speak of....I make fun on this, but in my serious moments, and i do have my fair share of those, I think like you just typed, and that
was an awesome answer.......
keep on thinking stuff like that.......was a pleasure to read it

if you are into music, I highly recommend
Cross of Changes"....one of the few albums that changes your mental perspectiev each time you listen to it, like a great book!

More about "Cross of Changes"...a copy is available on amazon for 98 cents......well worth it.....each song sound like it could come from a very atmospheric movie, like
2001 or something, and some actually make you quite transcendant, in the mind, anyway.........good for people who do or don't do drugs as well....stands on its own..
I call it positive pink floyd, without the razor-slitting undertones of roger waters, but with the reanscendence

Carole, I don't know what I believe sometimes. I don't know what anyone believes sometimes. All I know is nothing.
Would it make any difference what I believe.
Isn't it important just to belieev something,
no matter what? And isn't the most frightening thing to nihilistically believe in nothing?
To belieev in anything is good, very good.
That's what I believe, my sweet, in anything!
Have a good one! :)

Live for the moment is what I say... so that you have good memories to look back on when you are old and your days are numbered.

Everyone doesn't just "get old and die" with no "afterlife"
I believe we have three chances in life. We live the first life and make a lot of mistakes and inflict a lot of pain (both physical and mental) on many other people. We also hate a lot of people for whatever the reason. We live a life, mostly feeling miserable. Then we die.
Next we are re-born,, but we're "reborn" to become one of the same people we hated so much in the first life, and to be on the receiving end of a lot of mistreatment. We get a taste of what of it feels like to be an undesirable. And then we die.
Third, and this is where "getting old and dying is not that "final" We are again re-born. We live a good life. We make far fewer mistakes. We hate no one. And we are so wise and we are so knowledgeable and we are so loving and we are so understanding that when we enter into what can only be described as a wonderful, indescribable, beautiful, perpetual stage of spirituality, we have arrived at last
in the "afterlife"
because we never really die.
you see, hundreds of billions of people have lived throughout the millenniums. And then they die. People die at all ages, from newborns to those 100 years old or more. And we sometimes wonder....why this one or that one has "died so young" or why others live so long.
So it looks to me as if we are given many, many chances...to live full and productive lives.. and that we keep coming and going
until we finally get it right.

It's better to live to be old and rickety than the alternative. But I do believe in an afterlife so death doesn't scare me. I've been close to dying on more than one occasion. I worry more about the people I may leave behind but at the same time look forward to seeing my friends and family who have gone on before me. By the way, sounds like you have a cushy, cool job. Good for you, man.

I think that it's beautiful that after I die I will recorporate back into the fundamental makeup of the earth and all the life in it. Think of this, when you die, you decompose, and you become part of whatever metabolised you. Sure there may not be any more conciousness, but you'll be an important part in the life of another being. Without our deaths other beings could not live. :)

Get back to work. What sucks is that you spend day after day contemplating these thoughts while sitting in a cubicle....hope you're saving that money towards something worthwhile or you'll have more to worry about than than the afterlife when you get old.

Well, you should consider the possibility that this great big world was made by a loving God who is concerned about your welfare and would like to have a relationship with you for eternity.

I think it depends on who you are and what you believe, whether or not there is an afterlife.
