A good cleanser. Avoid anything with an alcohol base, it will overdry and cause increased oil production/secretion. There are many products on the market that are very good. Try clearsil bar facial soap. Neutrogena facial cleanser. Noxema. Clean and Clear. Et al.

Although using the good face products can improve the situation, it is more important to keep your body healthy. Eat healthy food (lots of vegetable, avoid fried food or spicy food), drink a lot of water (avoid soda, coffee, and think that has a strong favor) and wash your face often. Do not go too crazy on cleaning your face with soap though since it dries out your skin to much. Also, avoid face products that contain alcohol. Your skin will tend to produce even more oil to balance out the one that get removed. If you are at your teens, dont worry. Once you get older (around 20's), your face will stop producing as much oil... Then you will have to start worrying about having dry skin instead...

I have oily skin and have battled with it for years! I have found that over cleansing can lead to more oil production, because you are actually stripping your skin of protective oils! I wash my face in the morning at at night and I only use Neutrogena products. I have also found if you wear makeup-use oil absorbing powder. This helps keep the shine down all day. I recently started using Bare Minerals makeup-awesome stuff!! Kinda pricey-but totally worth it!! Here is the website if you want to check them out. www.bareminerals.com. Hope this helps!!

Nothing can "cure" this. You're either going through your hormonal stage in your teens, or you were born with oily skin.

Use rubbing alcohol if you have very oily skin. My skin is very oily --- shiny 3 hours after applying oilfree makeup.

So use rubbing alcohol when washing your face. And then moisturize with an oil free light moisturizer. It works for me!

oil is produced under the skin, so you need to keep the skin surface clean to prevent breakouts. over cleansing and stripping the skin will actually cause your glands to produce more oil, so use a gentle cleanser, gentle toner and an oil free moisturizer twice a day (morning and night). there are many oil controlling makeups out there, i would recommend a foundation like bare minerals, and keep oil blotting papers or rice papers with you to blot the oil throughout the day. those will keep your makeup in place, sop up the oil and eliminate shine. also will keep you from looking cakey from constantly applying powder throughout the day.

I use a natural remedy.

If you buy some rose water and witch hazel (you can get these from chemists) and mix them 50:50. Shake them up and apply using a cotton wool pad morning and evening.

It is cheap and effective. It also cleanses the skin and helps with any blocked pores.

Use a good astringent. Or a face wash with 2% acyclic acid. Your face could become dry if you do this everyday so I recommend a good face lotion, also.

plexion wash is very good because it gets your skin dry. But it is for acne and a prescription cream. Try not putting any lotion on your face, nothing moisturizing.
