It depends.

Therefore means from a specific time and on.
Hereafter means at some future time or from now on.
In both cases they are not that much different as to their distance from future.

However, when at some point both hereafter and thereafter reach the intersection that leads to life beyond, thats when therafter ends and hereafter begins its journey to the future-beyond.

There is also another important theory.

To calculate which is closer to future, hereafter or thereafter, you have to figure on which time zone "here" is and which time zone "there" is. If "here" for example is closer to solar sunrise time, then it will be ahead of "there" which won't see the light untill later. And thus, being in light earlier, hereafter is nearer to the future than thereafter.
This is called the "Confouzon Theory of the Unofficial Oracle.

thereafter is closest for most.....but if i die tonite doesn't that make hereafter very close indeed?
