Yeah - Face is the good guy, heel is the bad guy. However...a lot of times the fans don't like the face but they love the heel.
For example...JOHN CENA! He's a face and the fans can't stand him but they love him when he's a heel.

In the WWE & all wrestling promotions, a Face is a term meaning good guy or hero & a Heel is another term meaning bad guy or Villian.

Ah! We have the answers above, but then there is also the anomalies. A heel who is a face and a face who is a heel.
When Steve Austin came up, he was suppose to be hated... aka heel by the fans. But his character grew bigger than the script and busted out of it's bounds. He became a face by fan choice, not by the writers.
Cena has done the opposite.... whereas his character is suppose to be loved, it is hated.... it is out of the script's bounds and there is no controlling it by the WWE writers nor anyone else. This is our call.

actually its baby face a worker who tries to follow all the rules.
a heel a worker who does not care about the rules.
all promotions pro and indy use these terms to classify there workers and to set up matches.
