Sounds like your nephew is talking/mimicking. It's very possible that your sister heard him say "up", but it's more that your nephew is experimenting with sounds than using them properly. You recognize 'up' as a word because you know how to use it in sentences and when talking. Your nephew does not know this word's meaning yet, and therefore did not use it meaningfully.
Lots of new parents will swear up and down that they heard their child saying a word. But you have to remember that the child's use of language has to be meaningful to both him/her and to the listener(s).
Typically, children don't begin to use words meaningfully until they are about 12 months old.

Nope, they are able to commence teething each and every time, my daughter began teething at 2 months, and have been given her first 2 tooth some week earlier she became 4 months. Then approximately 2 weeks later she have been given 2 extra tooth in, then not long after that she have been given yet another enamel in and then in simple terms over Thanksgiving she have been given 3 tooth in. She has a entire of 8 tooth and she or he's in simple terms not 7 months until eventually the eleventh.

Agree with your sister and let her know that another Einstein is here on Earth. Telling a mother (or worse, a father) that their child is not the world's best is an impossible task. Agree and ignore, your life will be easier without the conflict.
In 10 years, or even in 10 months - what difference will it make?

No, he's not talking like we consider talking. Babies make tons of sounds that sound like words all the time. and they may make one specific sounds a lot that sounds like something. And some parents confuse that for talking. But in all honesty the baby has no clue what they're saying, they're just making sounds. I have an 11 month old who started saying dadadadadada at like 6 months and my mother in law swore he was saying dada...but he hasnt said that sound now in months. That was just something he was stuck on at the time and now he's moved onto other sounds....

At 5 months, babies make sounds without knowing what they mean, and without associating them with any action. No doubt she said "UP", but it was just a sound.
This morning, I awoke to hear my 8 month old daughter laughing and saying "Geek! Geek! Geek!" Yay! new sound, but it has no meaning.
At 7 months, we went back and forth saying "Yichhhh!" Cute, but she didn't mean to say "yucky".
Even at one year, they say Dah Dah and Mah Mah, and it doesn't have to do with daddy and Mommy.

yes its probably to young to talk. chances are he was babbling baby talk and it just sounded like words. i don't think babies that age can even mimic especially if they had heard the words the day before that's quite a lot to remember for such a young age.
