I went the first 18 years of my life without it. It has become such a communication tool and vast resource for information. We would take huge steps back if we did not have it.

Actually- my family doesnt have the internet-I am at school, but as far as I am concerned- although some of my friends might lose contact- the only thing I really NEED the internet for is research - which I could do manually - at greater length but probably more thoroughly...so to your question- I could do without the internet- after all there is still regular mail, which develops much better communication skills . Imagine all the time we would have if we didnt spend so many hours on the net?

I would be okay with that as far as convenience goes. Sometimes technology is irritating (especially other people's technology). However, the thing I like about it the most, is the way it reduces our dependence on things. We are not burning through as much paper because of the new digital technologies, and I don't even have a home phone anymore which helps me avoid telemarketers calls. THAT would be the part that would be hard to do without!

We should be able to live without internet - if we really want to. Hey, we've lived since before the internet era. There was no internet back then and we did just fine.
But yeah, you can get a lot of information (and garbage stuffs) from the internet. So... I think this is just another of that hard-to-answer-hypothetical question that nobody can really answer. :)

A cool Million could do the trick. Although, If I really had to I probably could live without it. (I can say this because when I was younger there was no Internet, in fact the greatest moment of technological history in my younger life was when cable TV first came out. LOL)

I've lived w/o it, I can do it again. I love to answer questions on here, but I don't HAVE to. It's nice to have for information you need to research and for work purposes, but I prefer to write things down on paper anyway...I like the first answer...deserted island and some Corona. That'd be nice. I'm not really into the technological updates. All it's done is torn down forests, neighborhoods, etc...just to make cities bigger??? Internet is evil.

In the working world....I COULD NEVER live without the internet to keep me sane and help with work duties....
Now when I'm a stay-at-home mom I COULD live without it, and might want to on some days but there's so much information etc I'd want to access....
We're REALLY blessed to live in this day and age!

i just moved house and for the first week we didn't have the internet connected. It was hell. From getting train times to needing to check emails and buying on ebay, it was horrible. I'd need to be paid at least $10 000 a year to not touch it!

An emphatic 'NO' for me. It would be a living nightmare.
An obscene amount of money, like 100 billion dollars, and I might stick it out for 1 year.
No amount of money will make me do it for 10 years. I prefer the challenge of making that money myself in that time.
