They are important. A lot of species live there, birds, fish, insects, all in a balance that we humans are a part of. They also break the power of big storms, thats one reason why New Orleans got destroyed--the hurricane came in at full strength instead of losing power over the marsh lands of Louisiana.

Yes they are since they are very differnet from other ecosysytems they support many different species. They also act as a flood barrier for ecosystems that can't handle alot of waterflow. So if there's no barrier another ecosystem maybe also be in danger. Not to mention that they protect alot of coastal populous cities around the world from flood(New Orleans, alot of Holland).

yes they are. they are full of all kinds of critters you would never imagine and the food supply is enormous. without it we would lose a vast part of our wildlife.
