They're different types of Mercedes.

The c-class is the smallest, starting at $30k.

The e-class is the medium size model, starting at $50k.

The s-class is the granddaddy of the family, starting at $85k.

There's also the gl-class(large suv), m-class(medium suv), r-class (the new station wagon), the sl class (the large rodster), the slk-class (the small rodster), the clk (the medium sized coupe) and the cls (the 4-door coupe???). Then there's the SLR starting at $485k...

I own an e-class Mercedes-Benz which is the company's mid- sized car.(4 door) The S class (also 4 door) is their flagship full sized sedan and the c-class ( 2, 3 & 4 door models) is the compact line of cars.

When I refer to a 3 door car, I mean that the hatchback is the 3rd door.

Sounds like a Mercedes

S-Class

Exemplary. Driver-adaptive 7-speed automatic transmission with heated front seats, hand-polished Burl Walnut wood interior trim, 18" 9-spoke light alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlamps with Active Curve Illumination, 6-disc changer, and voice control system.

Look at the website and read further and don't be ashamed unless you are a car dealer, how could you know everything

It's just the way they differentiate models.

The first letters indicate less luxury.

In Audi they use numbers as well.
A (of Audi) + 1 or 2, 3, etc.

A3 is less luxury than A4, and so on.

There's no mystery
