If you are serious about this you should find a gender therapist to talk things through with.

There is a lot of information about this on the internet,
the following site http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/
was set up by a transsexual lady called Lynne Conway.
The site deals with many of the issues the emerging transsexual has to face.

This site: http://transsexual.org/
Is run by a person called Diane Reitz, it includes the so-called COGIATI test, an on-line test that helps you assess your transsexuality.

Transitioning from man to woman is a really tough process.
There are various steps some of the main ones include
counselling and psychiatric assessment; decision to start hormone treatment; the real life test - the transitioning person is expected to spend a year living in the role of the target gender - at this stage the transitioning person might want to undergo cosmetic surgery (face lift, breast enhancement, facial feminization, rhinoplasty) - most M to Fs will undergo some kind of body and facial hair removal, the removal of genital hair prior to genital surgery is essential - sexual reassignment surgery - the transitioning person will apply for a name change - in some jurisdictions this can be done at a fairly early stage while other more restrictive areas only allow you to do so later on - SRS is far from the end of the trip - the transitioned person must adapt to the new social role, and may have to rebuild a life, find a partner, create a social network, etc.
The transsexual roadmap gives you details of all the stages

http://www.tsroadmap.com/

I hope this small amount of information can help you on your way. Remember transsexuality is not uncommon. So far one in 2500 American males have had SRS, while the incidence of transgender feelings is thought to be about one in 250 males.
Try not to become discouraged and in addition to looking for a therapist try and get in touch with a support group in your area.

Regards

Augusta

Then just BE one! That's what I did. Since childhood I liked boys. Then later desiring, and then seriously bending, with men. I'm quite passable (you look like you could be too!) so I figured, what the heck, I went 24/7 femme! Sometimes I hear rude comments, usually about how I dress in short dresses and skirts or tight boy-cut shorts. Once in a while some men say things that are extremely graphic and almost violent. I get a little scared but I try to ignore them and just keep walking. Takes all kinds to make the world go round! I'm almost a senior citizen now and I wouldn't change anything in my past! Good luck!

Perhaps you are feeling a bit confused with your own gender identity and sexuality. I suggest you go and see your GP, tell the doctor that you feel like you need referral to talk about these issues. Your GP will then refer you to a local counselling and psychotherapy unit, where you can talk to a counsellor.

With the help of the counsellor, you may be able to know exactly where you stand. Remember, femininity and masculinity is not black and white. There exists people in between.

Explore your options, and make an informed decision about yourself. Also, talking to people from different support groups can also help. Easy to search for those groups on the internet.

Most importantly, don't be afraid or ashamed of who you are. Transsexuality (or simple confusion) is nothing illegal.

Wanting to be a woman, and actually realising that are two completely seperate things. You need to ask yourself why you want to be a woman, what purpose transitioning will serve, and whether you will gain inner peace from fulfilling this side of you. Ultimately being a woman is more than clothing, hair, or make-up; it's about who you are inside.

Are you womanly, small frame, small hands and feet, or are you over six feet, huge feet, huge manly hands do you look like John Cleese in drag as in the old Monty Python shows, or are you like Hayley in Coronation street.
If you will genuinely pass for a woman well I dont know but the bloke I know 6 foot plus huge hands etc had hisself de pricked for want of a better term but he/she/it is just a freak. Needs medication for life hormones etc. Its bloody sad
He was not a bad bloke, well we were worried that he played with kids a bit too much, nothing overtly paedopile, but he worked in a toyshop. Live your dream but unlike choosing to be Gay, you cannot reverse gender reassignment and if you end up looking ridiculous you cannot blame folk for laughing at you can you.

Hmm... In that case, first port of call is doctor. you can also surf the net for support groups. There is a proceedure to go through.. You have to jump through some hoops to convince them you are for real. How old are you?
