My seven year old is a huge Littlest Pet Shop fan. They have a lot of choices in the $10 to $30 range.

I have a seven year old daughter and she and all of her friends are really into the 'littlest pet shop' toys. They have them in all sorts of animals from iguanas to kittens. You can get them anywhere from $2 and up depending on what you feel like spending. They are for sale everywhere (Wal-mart etc...)
Polly Pockets and Bratz dolls are also popular in our area to a lesser degree.
Also, have you heard of Crocs? They are a really ugly clog-like shoe that the kids can't get enough of. They are around $30 and I have made myself really popular with my neices (6-9 years of age) by buying them as gifts (but you'd have to ask parent for colour and size).

My niece had a Barbie karaoke set. It comes with Barbie songs on a cd and a pink microphone.
It really works and we had a lot of fun singing and dancing with it.
There are a lot of cds out there with a kid's version of popular songs.
They usually like to have their own music to listen to.

Bratz dolls are good and the large Barbie head that you style the makeup and hair always go over well.

This site is perfect for girls of that age! They have a great kids travel jewelry set for $10, some great silk flower hair clips, and super cute T-shirts in their apparel section. I love Kona Cutie with the little hula girl. :)

My daughter just turned 7 and she wanted "real" makeup and she wanted bead sets. She also wanted cd's of her choice and she wanted how to kits. Like, sand art, paint by number, cotton candy maker, slushie maker, things like that. She has had a blast playing with all of it. Good luck and I hope some of them ideas helped ya!
