It depends on the type and brand of the food.

WIth wet food, it used to be made out of horse meat, but that might become illegel with new laws to be passed soon. They usually use parts of meat that were not used. The company might get a deal with a meat company to produce cheep meat. Sometimes hooves, and inerds are used. Sometimes, it is the left over of cut meat.

As for dry food, it really depends. Sometimes they use corn, but that is not good as it makes most dogs go to the bathroom alot. Grain is used, too, along with Soy and Rice. It is usually articially flaovred.

Some brands use real indegrendec, you just have to know how to look.

The main ingredients are "by-products" and "meal." These two can come from beef, poultry, or lamb.

By-products consists of some meat, but what little meat there is comes from non-choice parts. The rest is gristle, tendons, hoofs, toenails, fur, feathers, etc. The protein content in these items may be deceptively high, but it is not readily digested, and most of this protein gets passed through the bowels instead of being absorbed and used by the dog that eats it.

Meal-based dog foods consist of more meat with digestable protein and less non-digestable protein. It is much better for your dog.

A variety of things. Plus, its makes a difference if it's in a can or a bag. A can or bag of dog food both have labels listing all the ingredients. A can of high quality dog food sometimes contains almost 100% meat, usually beef or chicken. Dry kibble dog food can have dehydrated meat, bone meal, various grains, vitamins, you name it. Just check the label it should tell you everything you want to know.
