Most of the time, this should be as easy as plugging in the mp3 player to the PC via the USB port.
Try plugging it in with the PC on, assuming you are running Windows XP, and the PC should "recognise" the mp3 player as a "mass storage device" or similar.
Let it install / set up drivers for the player (which it should be able to "get" from within your Windows installation" and hopefully, after a few moments, you should see a "device is ready for use" message / balloon.
Then, you should be able to open "My Computer" and see a new "drive" (If you have a C: and a D:, then look for a new "E:" etc) which will be the mp3 player.
Simply drag and drop files to the new drive to transfer them across, making sure you allow enough time for the player to "receive them" before unplugging it. (Watch the player's display when it's connected)

It depends what sort you have got. If it's an oval one you tend to pull off a bit at one end. The metal bit that sticks out you stick in the back of your computer where there is a sign that has 3 lines and a dot. it is tricky doing it the first time, but it tends to be trial and error. Once you've stuck the bit in the back you click your start button on the pc and go to open and you will see a sign for removable drive, not c or hard. Click on that and it will open up. You should have a computer disc with all the instructions on it in the packet and that will probably be able to explain a lot better than I can. Good luck.

I have a very similar problem! The first time I plugged my MP3 player in, the computer recognised it no problem. Now, whenever I try, I just hear a *DUNK*-type noise, but there are no new drives in My Computer, and that funny little symbol doesn't appear on the taskbar near the clock. It's very weird! The instruction booklet is useless. I'm going to try again and, if I can't get it working, I'll email the manufacturer. Mine's made by Aigo. Let me know if you find a solution!
