The presenter has to get my interest and then hold it by making good points that follow a progressive path. A little humor goes a long way, but mostly I want a succinct but comprehensive presentation that is devoid of buzzwords.

1. Organization: There's a clearly stated and fully developed thesis. Order of the presentation is logical.
2. Visual Presentation: Complete, coherent slides. Text and figures are visible to the audience.
3. Oral Presentation: Speaks with authority. Able to be heard and understood. Uses pointer to highlight key topics in slides.
4. Knowledge: Demonstrates a clear understanding of the topic.
5. Answers to Questions: able to answer all audience questions.

An interesting topic, to begin with. And, that the speaker is personable and doesn't put me to sleep. A free feed afterwards is always nice, too.

I would add to Cville (Answerer 1), eye contact and a lively tone. It is terrible when a person is reading and with a monotone, however logical they are.

my mind tends to wonder, so the speaker has to present the information in an interesting way. if they plainly state things, i will not pay attention.
