Musically I really like this song... I could spend hours just humming the melody. But the lyrics are so angry and hateful, and I wonder why they called it Israel's Son. Wikipedia doesn't have an article about it, and I dunno if Chairpage.com does. Does anybody know the background to this song, or a GOOD article that talks about it?

PS: also, if you know any good newer Australian rock bands, I'd appreciate a mention about them ;)

The song is in reference to Israel's inherent violence. When it was created, every Middle Eastern country bordering it declared war upon it. During the subsequent wars Israel took the war as chance to broaden their borders. Arab states still maintain a very open loathing for the country because of its origins and the religious conflict.

It's an unfortunate fact about Israel: it has a long and bloody history, and it hasn't changed in 50 years.
