I think they feel probably morally obligated to invest in Africa. And perhaps for the publicity as well. But I will take them on their word that they are sincere.
Spending money on American schools is not the best solution though. They need more discipine and better teachers first. The fact that over 70% of African American children are born without a father in the household is the number one problem. Better family planning and personal responsibility classes would be the most important. How can an illiterate 18 year old single mother help her student with her home work? Cooperation and help from parents is necessary for most students to be successful.
Catholic schools spend about one fourth the amount per student than public schools do, and get significantly better results! So more money isn't the best solution.

Honestly, I don't think Oprah much agrees with the terms of United State's African Americans. Often they have disputes calling the culture "ineducated" when truly it was how the culture was raised since slave days. One cannot banish their culture, and that is where the problem lies. Oprah and such, place a higher importance on integration into society, become one with becoming one with perceivably "white" personality traits, while black culture usually pertains to something a bit less sophisticated. This disagreeance has probably forced oprah to look in places with a little more "hope" so to speak. People don't want to give up their culture, and they shouldn't have to. It's simply some of the ideals in the culture, usually lead to less than productive lives, and this is what oprah and other successful black entrepreneurs do not like.

Bill gates can buy them but then you're giving the fish to the people instead of the tools to help themselves. Yes, there;s tax reasons, but that doesn't mean they don't give because want to. They give because they know it'll make a change. The amount they give exceeds the taxs they pay anyway.
The question is to those complaining, is - what are you giving in you're country. Asians, sikhs, people from all over world come to USA and become millionnaires, recently 12 people have become millionnaires and they worked in a resturant washing dishes, security guard and one guy worked delivering pizza but all built their own empires, in a short space of time, in your own country, in your own hometown.
What does that tell everyone here? Not that there is no opportunity in USA but people not willing to be patiant, build their dreams and realise that it will take some years, maybe 5-10 years to make their dreams a realisation. Broke people are too hasty, want it now, and guess what? They're in a job because of that thought instead of using the job to do something.
I see so many from different countries come to UK too and in just 5 years build an empire and STILL people born here, moan about why life is rubbish, why they don't get paid enough.
Question - what are you? For your own community? An asset or a burden?
Say thank God they are doing something with their money, it helps to make the world better. They had a dream now, u r in a country of dreams. So what are people here doing about them?
Looks like maybe watching others come in, grab leadership, opportunity and make it happen.

i'm white. i come across that the perspectives expressed with the help of Rev. Wright to be lots greater offensive. conventional reason, he does this under the canopy of religion. interior the generic public of church homes human beings party to income and persist with the words of God, to not bypass after yet another race, to not hear how undesirable the Jews are, and to not hear wild un-patriotic tirades that ask God to damn our usa. A pastor, any pastor's first objective is to deliver human beings to the Lord, not cut back a warm CD with wild rhetoric. Rev. Wright's speeches are against Christ's teachings and the Christian faith he allegedly helps. Mr. Bob Johnson, who spoke at my college commencement, additionally says he's a fabricated from the black journey. according to probability he's. What he has executed is to furnish some place for black entertainers to exhibit their act. that isn't be in a position to be exploitation, if the entertainer has been unable to be considered in different boards simply by racism. collectively as Mr. Johnson does have his faults, and does communicate with great fervor with regard to the African-American race, he's not coming to us under the guise of a non secular individual. all of us be attentive to Mr. Johnson is a effectual businessman, who has his own time table.

Because those countries need it more. Here we are very fortunate to have alot of wealthy people who do donate to our charities and schools. Usually in private. Over there they are warfare areas, girls are treated as second class in Africa.
Israel pays alot on military and not every girl wants to fight.
They both help out here to but they try to help where it is really needed. The gov.'t in Africa isn't as helpful as the USA, don't laugh.

no they just refuse to admit they are americans, it would be like bill gates investing in England because his ancestors came from there hundreds of years ago
blacks should view america as their motherland if they were born here, especially if their parents and their parents were as well
things arent as bad for them nowdays, and they can help to make things better here if they want to, for themselves and all americans
