At some point the body (brain) no longer functions and is unable to realize it's condition. One may know they are dying, but from the point of death, all memory function is gone along with the life it held, therefore no realization one is dead. Does this mean we never really die, as the last thing we remember, is the last thing we remember?

Actually, you have always existed, even 24 hrs before your conception, as you are a continuation of life. (You have genetic memory). However, all memory ceases upon death, and you never realize this. . .so. . how does one know they are dead?

Cookiesmom. . .during anethesia, your brain is still completely functional and aware, though unconscience along with your body being paralized. One is able through therapy recall every aspect of the surgery if they so desired. Some people have thought to be under and since they were paralized, they were unable to alert the surgeons that they were feeling everything that was being done. . .you definately knew you were alive at that point, but probably felt that you were in hell.

If life is solely of the body (which is what I think you are implying), then no.

That is what makes me laugh so much when atheists say "if you keep on believing in God, you'll regret it at the end of your life because you wasted the opportunity to have so much fun that you thought was sinful."

If life dies with the body, nobody will realize they were wrong, and nobody will regret anything!

On the other hand, if there is some non-corporeal imperishable part to human beings, or if the memory of all life experience is being transmitted and recorded for future playback in a more durable body, there will be plenty of opportunities for horible realization, and lasting regret.

I have often heard people say that the idea of heaven is "too good to be true". Doesn't the idea of hell strike anybody as "too BAD to be FALSE"...?

Why take chances...?

IF there is no life after death, then it would seem logical that life ends, then everything ends; you cease to be, no memory, no nothing.
For there to be life after death I think you need to believe that there is a spirit of some sort (a soul) that resides in the physical body, and leaves at some point during or after death, which would be the essence of what we are in some sort of a spirit form

I suppose another thought would be that each thought and feeling we've had through our lives has been transmitted through natural electrical impulses into the great beyond and continue to travel on like an old "I Love Lucy" show, and could be "caught" at some point recorded and replayed.

Of course not, you know nothing when you die. Think of it this way: do you remember what you were thinking about / experiencing 24 hours prior to your conception?
What we experience and know after death is the same thing we experienced and knew before we existed. Nothing.

Yes the body dies but the soul goes to heaven or hell and if you except Jesus Christ as your savior you will go to heaven!
