All you need is AVG Antivirus. It is just as good as Noron and it runs nicely on any machine, and and added bonus is that it is free to home users. I use it on my computer and I love it.

I've had good luck with CA Anti-Virus from Computer Associates. They are not a well known company for home users, but are big in enterprize software. I can't speak for the latest version specifically (ver 2007), but I have last year's version and the software uses less than 4 megabytes of memory while it's running.

Have had the same problem. I'm using NOD 32 and my computer is working just fine. Go to :
http://download.kappa.ro/action__file/id__638
and click on DOWNLOAD FISIER(download file) then on the new page click SUNT DE ACORD(that means: i agree) and try it.
It's a romanian antivirus that Microsoft wants to buy, and it is actually very good. Try it!
Good luck!

Norton Anti Virus or Norton Internet Security ... I use Norton Internet security... previously my comp. used to work pretty slow ... I bought it and installed it... the update doesn't take a lot of time...maybe a few min. But believe me ... it will not slow down your comp.
