soak in very hot water, once you take them out put newspaper inside and polish the shoes with a good shoe wax, this not only softens them but also waterproofs them to some extent!

I've got the exact same thing. I bought a pair of shoes for work a couple of weeks ago. I wore them for one day and by the end of it I was in absolute agony and my feet were covered in blisters. I haven't been able to put them on since and I took them back to the shop today but the assistant wouldn't give me a refund and instead disappeared for 10 minutes with the shoes, then returned with them saying he had applied some 'softener' to them.

He told me to give them another try and reassured me that I won't have a problem anymore. I would rather have been given my money back but obviously a miracle softener does exist at a shoe shop near you and hopefully they'll be more comfortable this time! On the other hand, the man could be talking out of his backside...

I have a tip that has been handed down through my family and that is to rub soap into the areas where the leather is rubbing.

It may be necessary to do this more than once.

Give it a try ..... it works!!!

Hold them over a kettle when it has just boiled to "steam" the areas that rub. If they are tight at the front, use those shoe trees that stretch them a little bit.

Put damp newspaper inside the shoes and leave overnight. Don't bother with the vinegar.

i watched this trade secrets programme once.. and i learnt that if you have leather shoes that pinch.. get loads of potato skins and fill up your shoes with them over night.. its ameant to streach them a little.. which will stop the rubbing. hope that helps. =p

hmm, hit them on the head, if it doesnt soften the shoes, at least the head will hurt more than the feet and u might not realise your feet are painful,,,

soak newspaper in water (not vinegar because it makes the shoes smell) then scrunch them up and put them in your shoes, leave it overnight and they should be alot better
